Mike Ponthieux started his career in the jewelry industry at a young age. His knack for fixing things and fascination with silversmithing set his future as a jewelry craftsman. After moving to Greenville SC, Mike and his wife, Wanda, opened Ponthieux's Jewelry Design Studio that specializes in creating custom pieces that reflect that customer's distinct design style. Mike and Wanda were asked to create a special commemorative piece of jewelry and Mike was inspired by the animals in Dorothy Shain's scarf to create the first piece of jewelry as the Lion to demonstrate the "Lion's Roar of Courage" as a special tribute to all those who have been touched by cancer. They both love to give back to the community in ways they can actually see what is being done and the Cancer Survivors Park is a worthy recipient. Mike and Wanda both have had family members and special friends who have had bouts with cancer, some of whom have won and some that are no longer with us. They hope by donating their talents they are showing their support for the Cancer Survivors Park in helping promote hope and healing.
